FOSS @ Bangalore

Foss.in - The Indian opensource event ended on 8th December. The turnout this year was lower than last year despite changes in event structure [Event had an unconference model this year] The first two days of the conference - called Project Days, were dedicated to specific opensource projects. The project days was aimed at making people contribute to OpenSource rather than just being the users of it. We had OpenSolaris, OpenOffice, Mozilla and Linux project days. The main conference started (Late as usual) on 6th Dec with a speech by Atul Chitnis. The main conference had a mix of Lightning talks, BOFs and HackCenters. I was busy(?) with the demos in the booth and so, missed a majority of the talks. I could manage a talk on IndLinux, a talk on OpenSolaris (by Jim Gresanzio) and a BOF on Glassfish. I had an opportunity to meet a variety of people from various backgrounds. A few of them wanted solutions for their business needs, others wanted to evaluate the open source tools. Overall, ...
