Language: Malayalam
Genre: Romance, DramaThis is one of those few movies that'll linger in your mind days after you had watched it.
The pre-release buzz about this movie was that it explores the relationship between Kamal hassan and Srividya. News that Srividya did not allow anyone to visit her in her last days and that Kamal was the last person to visit her before her death created some curiosity in me.
Priya Mani has done an amazing job - you'll see Srividya in her throughout the movie in the way she speaks , the way she looks and the way she smiles. The character of malayalam superstar AjayaChandran will keep reminding you of Kamal Hassan every now and then. Kamal said in an interview that he was very under-confident and nervous during the starting stages of his career. He had lots of flops during that period. Ajay too exhibits such characteristics. In the beginning of the movie, AjayaChandran struggles with english and by the end of the movie you'll find him fluent in English - another similarity. Ajay's comments about the make up of another co-artist during film shooting, his talks about how the directors shaped his acting early in his career etc. will keep reminding you about Kamal.
As with the story, Akki (Prithviraj) is a one film old director who had tasted success in his first attempt itself. He is preparing a script for his next movie which is about the yesteryear actress Malavika (Priya Mani). Malavika was an actress who had scaled the peaks in her career and then all of a sudden she is gone without a trace. Akki wants to find out what happened to her during that period, where is she now and what is her relationship with the current Malayalam superstar Ajaya Chandran (Anoop Menon). He starts to collect all the information about the actress from the persons close to her. In the course, he comes to know that the actress is in a terminally ill condition in a hospital in a remote town. What did akki learn about Malavika and what happens to her in the end forms the major portion of the story.
There are many scenes that are beautifully etched. There are few scenes that will shock you. On the whole, Renjith, the director had written a powerful script and had executed is successfully. I have changed my opinion for good about Priya Mani's acting talents after watching this movie. Prithviraj, Anoop menon and other supporting cast did well to make the movie believable.
If you plan on watching a movie next, make sure you are watching this one.
