Sitting idly at home, out of blue, I remembered MF Husain's painting of M.S. Subbulakshmi amma. And then a quick youtube search on her got me 2 of my favourite songs - "Bhaja Govindam" and "Kurai ondrum illai".
Out of the two I tend to like Kurai Ondrum Illai over Bhaja Govindam because of the pure tamil lyrics you'll encounter in that song. The song itself, written by C. Rajagopalachari (remembered as Rajaji), is of a very recent origin and got popularized by M.S. singing this song at the United Nations in 1969. Ironically, this is the only composition of Rajaji which is famous in the classical music circles.
